The Outside Institute was founded in 2017 in the Upper Delaware Valley with a mission to help people connect to the healing and transformative powers of nature. By nurturing humanity's innate affinity for all living things, the Institute hopes to inspire joy and passionate stewardship of the land.

To broaden the reach of this mission, I partnered with founder Laura Silverman to conceptualize, develop, and co-write a streamlined and accessible multi-volume set of seasonal field guides. The intention is to introduce beginning naturalists to some of the most prevalent flora, fauna and fungi of this region. It includes detailed illustrations, clear descriptions for identification and usage, and even some recipes.

The Field Guide has been featured on Gardenista ("the book we're all coveting") and And North, among others, and is available in shops and hotels such as Hauser & Wirth (bookshop), Marlow & Daughters, Best Made Company, Hesperios, Flower Power, Foxfire Mountain House, and The DeBruce. The first volume - Summer - sold out in just three short weeks.

The second volume - Spring - will be released in April. Pre-sale available now through The Outside Institute.
